On behalf of the children and staff, we would like to welcome you to Oakworth Primary School. We hope that you will find our website clear, informative and easy to navigate. It has been designed to give you a flavour of the vibrant life of the school, the work of our wonderful pupils and the quality education that we strive to deliver.  If you would like to know more about the school, you are very welcome to contact the School Office or to come and visit us. The children of Oakworth very much enjoy talking about and sharing their achievements and learning and we will all look forward to meeting you.

Jo Pagdin – Chair

I am delighted to be involved in the governance of Oakworth Primary especially as Chair of Governors.  Although all governors volunteer it is a great privilege to be able to support our local school and children.  I have 3 daughters all of which are past or current pupils at Oakworth Primary and I became a parent governor when my eldest daughter was in Reception, back in 2012. I am passionate about Oakworth Primary providing the best possible education for each and every child that attends our school and I have attended various governance courses, including the Governance Leadership Programme working closely with the Bronte Academy Trust personnel.    As Chair I endeavour to ensure that the work of the governing body is efficiently and effectively undertaken and is focused at all times enabling all our pupils to achieve their best, building on the relationships with staff, pupils and parents.

On a personal note, I am currently the director of a local recruitment agency, a business that I have been involved in for the last 20 years. Prior to that I have travelled the world whilst working on cruise ships and have been a long standing (and suffering) Bradford City supporter since I was a child.

James Hobson - Co-opted Governor

Chris Godwin - Community

I have been involved in education for the whole of my career, initially as a Science Teacher and latterly as a School Science Technician.

We moved to Oakworth over thirty years ago when my husband was appointed as a Consultant at Airedale Hospital.  All three of our sons attended Oakworth School before moving on to Bronte Middle School followed by Oakbank.

From 1990 – 2000 I was a member of the governing body at Bronte Middle School and I was also a Governor at Oakworth First School from 1992-1998.  During this time I attended many Governor training courses.  I feel that this is an important part of the role since what is required of Governors constantly changes.

Our local school is at the centre of our community and I feel that the whole community has an interest in ensuring that it provides an outstanding education for all, an education which sets our children on the right path for life.
