Welcome to Year Two
Summer 1 - Oakworth In Bloom
Year 2 have enjoyed finding out about the print artist Orla Keily. We have even spotted her designs in the shops on different products. The children have found out how to print then created their own string boards and used these to print and paint their own 'stem' art work.
Spring Term 2 Healthy Heroes
Year 2 have worked really hard on making some Tooth Pillows for our wobbly teeth. We had to use running stitch and over stitch and designed our unique pillows. Which do you like?
In our DT lessons we have been designing and creating pizza toast. We have used the skills of peeling, grating and chopping. We can use the bridge hold and claw hold to cut safely.
Year 2 have enjoyed meeting a real author Bethan Woolvin. After studying her text Rapunzel earlier in the year Mrs Hutley arranged for her to meet our class. We had a great time listening to her talk about her books and she even did a super draw along with us! You never know some of us may become illustrators when we are older!
Spring Term 1 - Life on Planet Earth
Last half term we took interest in learning about Sir Captain Tom Moore and his challenge of completing 100 laps for his garden. Bears and Meerkats had a lovely idea to walk 100 lengths of our playground to raise money for our charity 'Help for Heroes'. We had to use our Oakworth Super Powers of resilience and team work to complete this challenge over a few days.
Look at our fantastic English work from last half term.
