Mathematics at Oakworth focuses on deep understanding of all areas of mathematics to include fluency, reasoning and problem-solving for all of our learners.

Our curriculum allows children opportunities to explore and understand mathematics facts, concepts and procedures in their entirety focusing on mathematical structure, patterns and relationships.

Our use of the Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract (CPA) approach ensures a deep conceptual understanding that secures pupils mental models of the mathematics they are learning through hands-on materials, visual representations and abstract contexts.

Emphasising the need to secure fluency, opportunities to reason and a positive mathematical mindset helps foster critical thinking and resilience for our mathematicians.

With a focus on mathematical vocabulary and inclusivity, this approach ensures every child achieves, builds confidence and has a lifelong appreciation for mathematics.

Year 4 have been busy practising their times tables in school and they are very excited to invite their adults in for some times tables fun! During the session, the children will show their adults some of the games we play in school and take part in a range of fun activities that you can also enjoy together at home.

Please find attached all of the games and activities we will be using. Feel free to download, print and adapt them to practise whichever times table your child is currently working on.
