Our Curriculum
Maths
At Oakworth Primary School, we believe every pupil deserves a well-structured and ambitious maths curriculum that inspires curiosity and prepares them for everyday life and future careers. We want all children to appreciate the beauty of mathematics and feel confident in their abilities.
Our curriculum is carefully planned and progressive, ensuring pupils develop fluency in arithmetic alongside strong reasoning and problem-solving skills. This enables them to apply maths confidently in the wider world.
We follow the White Rose Maths Hub scheme to fully cover the National Curriculum, with lessons adapted to meet the needs of all learners and provide appropriate challenge.
Regular assessment tracks progress and informs teaching, while collaboration with Maths Leaders ensures consistency across year groups.
Daily lessons include arithmetic practice, new learning based on prior knowledge, and a focus on both procedural and conceptual fluency. Practical resources and visual aids support pupils’ understanding throughout.
Year 4 had a lovely morning learning the 6 times tables with their parents. They played lots of games and completed activities that they could also play at home.
Please find attached all of the games they played at the workshop. Please feel free to edit these to any times table your child wants.
