Our Curriculum
History
At Oakworth Primary School, we strive to inspire a love of history by delivering a rich and engaging curriculum that brings the past to life. Through the study of diverse civilisations, historical periods, and our local heritage, pupils develop important values such as democracy, equality, and respect.
Our curriculum covers significant topics, including the prehistoric world, the Anglo-Saxons, and the Vikings, enabling children to draw meaningful connections between historical events and contemporary issues. We also take full advantage of our local surroundings, exploring the history of Oakworth and nearby areas to deepen pupils’ understanding of their community’s heritage.
We mark important occasions such as Black History Month and Remembrance Day, which provide opportunities for pupils to reflect on history and appreciate its relevance to the world today.
